Good photos … I saw that you basically took those hand-held. I have tried that in the past, but I always recommend using a tripod if you are trying to get these sorts of fireworks photographs, if you have access to one (or any stable surface). Hence, I had a tripod for the ones taken on my blog post, as well as being taken in “bulb mode” (B on Canon, as I see you have got a Canon). To use this mode, you set the aperture and then hold down the shutter button for as long as you want to expose the picture for. I learnt that I got the best results around the 4+ second exposure mark (I pressed when the fireworks began and released when they stopped, for instance). Also, I stopped down the aperture to f/10-16.. You may want to check out my post on how I took some fireworks shots here, as well as samples: http://ajitnarsiphoto.wordpress.com/2013/01/27/the-burst-of-the-fireworks/ … I hope this helps :)
I do have a tripod, but for some reason, I did not think of using it for this. I’ll make sure I do so next year!
I see from your blog that bulb mode can give quite interesting results for these things as well. :)
